Ohio's Largest Anime Convention

This past weekend the Greater Columbus Convention Center was host to Ohio's largest anime convention, Ohayocon. A play on the Japanese work "Ohayou" (おはよう) which sounds a lot like Ohio. Being local to Columbus myself I make it a point to stop in at least a little while each year.

Started in 2001, the Ohayocon operators always deliver a well organized convention that features popular US anime voice actors, musicians and artists from a wide range of shows, movies, manga and web comics. You can listen to talks from famous voice actors like Tiffany Grant and Spike Spencer from the Evangelion series; Anime and video game voice actors like Jamie McGonninal from Mobile Police Patlabor, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Pokemon as well as Darrel Guileau who did voices for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Final Fantasy: Chrystal Chronicles; and talented artists like Rikki Simons of Tavicat (also the voice of Gir from Invader Zim) and Fred Gallagher of MegaTokyo. The convention hosted many other guests and (although the official numbers aren't in yet) easily hosted more then last years 12,500.

Hanging out with friends and meeting new people is always a good time, but when you get to run around and see creative people and their costumes it is extra cool! I'll leave you with some of my favorite photos and a link to my Google+ album for the rest of my pictures after the break.
